Four in Custody Charged With Assaulting, Robbing Duhamel

Last Wednesday Morning, two men rang the doorbell of Jonathan Duhamel's home in the suburbs of Montreal, Quebec. When the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion  answered, they forced their way inside, assaulted him, and stole his things. The champ was okay, escaping the incident with just few bruises that come with being bound and beaten repeatedly. Notable items that were stolen included an undisclosed amount of 500-euro bills, a black Rolex Submariner watch (which had been a gift from PokerStars), and the priceless diamond-laden WSOP Main Event bracelet.

After recovering from a brief stint in the hospital, Duhamel released a statement thanking those close to him for their support and urging anyone with information to contact the police. He also offered up a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of his jewelry and the arrests of the perpetrators.

Justice seems to be in motion in Quebec. On Saturday night, a 20-year-old woman from Saint-Saveur named Bianca Rojas-Latraverse was arrested in connection with the caper. Police credited information from the public for her arrest, and she was charged with five offenses that included conspiracy.

The subsequent interrogation led to the captures of two more men, 22-year-old John Stephan Clark Lemay from Pointe-Claire and 26-year-old Andre Robert Perron from Pierrefonds. They've been charged with breaking and entering, robbery, assault, and forcible confinement. QMI Agency is also reporting that Perron was in possession of the Rolex at the time of his arrest, but the bracelet is still missing.

This morning, more news broke as CBC News reported the arrest of a fourth person in connection with the robbery. Charges have not yet been filed against the 20-year-old man from Longueuil as police continue their questioning.
Those are the facts as we have them so far, but accurate information regarding the arrests has been hard to come by. Longueuil police department spokesman Mark David told Bloomberg that the investigation was still on-going. Stay tuned for more updates on this story as they become available.

Wakeboarder Poker Pro?

What a ****ing ******* this guy is. I get to his table tonight and the mother****er starts berating me with questions about how much I'm down. I joke around with him saying an amount like 18k, then he asks me how old I am and playing around with my avatar persona I say "16" thinking none of it.

Well later I get an email saying my account is locked and that I need proof of ID and how they treat this like a bomb threat. I had no idea that a person would take the time do all this against a person. Say what you want about me but I would never stoop this low.

Well the reason Im posting this here is that I know this mother****er is a BBV toolbag that is trying to "prank me". Well job well done you ****ing *******. I also wanted to out him to the community to stay the hell away from his games.

Good thing you don't have a case against me because I'm 24 years old and this is easily solvable.

Point of this post is a Beat that I have to waste my time proving I'm legal but also the point of this post is that this guy is a ****ing scumbag that should be exiled from the community.

I will be challenging Stars to be banned from the site.

Second Round of US Poker Rooms

The big question in the US is, where are all the legal online poker rooms? The question of legal poker sites, especially in light of the online poker ban on playing poker online in the US, has dominated poker news in recent months, and raises the question – what is going to happen to existing poker rooms if the US does legalize and regulate online poker?
This is a serious question because many experts do believe that it is only a matter of time before this happens. While the US government seems to be hell bent on imprisoning owners of online poker rooms, it is because they did not comply with the 2006 poker law that said that processing online poker payments was against the law. The question of legal online poker rooms and legal poker sites is almost an academic one. Technically, the only place in the US where there is an actual online poker ban is Washington State. As far as general poker online in the US, there is no law that says playing it is illegal. Of course, as we can see in the poker news reports, the net affect of the current state of the online poker ban is the same – many US poker players are not playing because their favorite sites are now denying them access.
Those sites that are dubbing themselves legal online poker rooms and legal poker sites are the smaller sites that stayed away before in the poker online US market, and now have a chance to make a name for themselves once the legal issues are settled. The big poker news will be about the fall of the giant poker rooms, perhaps, dealing with payment issues and executives languishing in US jails, and the second level poker rooms that rise up and replace them, working with whatever new regulations come out of the US.
The rest of the poker world is watching what is happening with the big poker rooms closely, and even non US poker players are feeling the affects. While rooms like Full Tilt Poker deal with losing access to both the US market and a great deal of money seized by the US government, the non US poker players have to wonder how safe their poker dollars are sitting in Full Tilt's coffers. Should they stay, should they go? Should they move to one of the smaller rooms not dealing with these issues?
It is a big world out there for poker, and the US is just one country. It is, however, one of the largest populations of folks hoping to play on legal online poker rooms and legal poker sites, and with the current online poker ban (or whatever name you want to give it) those dollars from poker online US play are in limbo. But the clever poker rooms will act when the dust settles and the smoke clears, and will soon be heralded on the poker news as the new poker giants.

Grospellier and Cody Complete Poker's Triple Crown

To achieve what has been dubbed poker's Triple Crown requires a player to win a tournament on the European Poker Tour, World Poker Tour, and at the World Series of Poker. The list of players to accomplish this feat is short, as the WPT was launched in 2002 and the EPT was created in 2004.

Several players were one leg away from joining this list and over the course of the 2011 poker schedule, two of them made it happen.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Ever since Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier's 2008 eruption onto the live tournament scene, the poker world was waiting for his WSOP breakout party. Unfortunately, with only five combined cashes at the 2009 and 2010 WSOPs and WSOPEs, Grospellier was unable to shine on the world's biggest poker stage.

However, that all changed this summer.

“ElkY” finally hit it big this summer at the WSOP, and captured a WSOP bracelet to go along with his January 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (EPT) victory and his October 2008 Festa Al Lago (WPT) win. He was already among the best players to have never won a bracelet and it was only a matter of time before he did so. However, it was in what event he won his bracelet that many find most impressive.

Prior to his win, Grospellier raised a few eyebrows in the event he played immediately before his bracelet win. It was the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball World Championship and with an 11th-place showing, Grospellier notched his first live non-hold'em cash on record. On the heels of that result, Grospellier entered the $10,000 Seven-Card Stud World Championship. What happened from there? He defeated a top-notch field of 126 players to earn his first bracelet. Here was his day-by-day path leading to the final table.

Although Grospellier scored only one elimination at the final table, it was the one that counted. To even be in position to do so was quite the achievement, one that he will no doubt always remember. He began heads-up play against Steve Landfish at a modest 1.5:1 chip disadvantage, but Landfish had the upper hand for the beginning portion of the heads-up duel and increased to a whopping 24:1 chip lead at one point. However, a resilient and determined Grospellier stormed back to join the short list of Triple Crown winners.
Lynn Gilmartin caught up with "ElkY" following his win:

Jake Cody

In January 2010, Jake Cody burst onto the live poker scene when he won the Main Event at EPT Deauville. For being an unknown at the time, Cody defeated a very skilled final table that included Mike "Timex" McDonald, Craig Bergeron, Peter Eastgate, and Grospellier (who bubbled in ninth place). Later that year, Cody won WPT London in his home country to quickly close in on claiming the Triple Crown. At the 2011 WSOP, he wasted little time doing so, winning the $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em Heads-Up Championship which began on the first day of the Series. Here was his path to capturing the bracelet:

2012 PokerStars EPT schedule taking shape

With three more stops announced this week, the remainder of the Season 8 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) schedule is starting to take shape. The tour now has six scheduled stops on the Season 8 schedule after the New Year, with a few others likely to be added along the way – last year PokerStars waited until February to release the final schedule for Season 7, including the dates for the EPT Grand Final.

The newly added stops include two European cities that are no strangers to hosting EPT tournaments, Berlin, Germany and Madrid, Spain, as well as a first-time Italian stop in the border-town of Campione in Northern Italy.

Here is a look at the current EPT schedule as we know it, but keep in mind that the EPT will add at least the Grand Final dates in the coming months:

* PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) – January 4-January 14, 2012

The $10,000 buy-in PCA is one of the biggest tournaments of the year in the poker world and has grown to rival the Aussie Millions, the EPT Grand Final, and the WPT Championship as one of THE most coveted tournament titles in poker.

* EPT Deauville – January 31-February 6, 2012

The €5,000 buy-in EPT Deauville, France attracted nearly 900 participants last year, and was won by Frenchman Lucien Cohen who bested Martin Jacobson to claim the title and the €880k first-place prize-money.

* EPT Copenhagen – February 20-February 25, 2012

Sporting a 35,500DKK buy-in, the EPT Copenhagen is the biggest poker tournament in Denmark. Last year nearly 450 players showed up for the tournament, including virtually every big name in Scandinavian poker.

* EPT Madrid – March 12-March 17, 2012

Madrid will apparently not play host to the EPT Grand Final this year, even though 686 entrants turned up for the €10,000 buy-in tournament last year. This time around the EPT Madrid will sport the typical €5,000 buy-in.

* EPT Campione – March 26-March 31, 2012

A new stop on the EPT, it appears the EPT Campione will take the place of the EPT Snowfest that is typically held in Salzburg, Austria. Snowfest has been one of the least attended events on the EPT schedule over the past few years, which may be the reason behind the move to Campione, Italy.

* EPT Berlin – April 16-April 21, 2012

Expects another solid turnout at the EPT Berlin this year, as the tournament enters its third year on the EPT schedule. The first EPT Berlin became famous for the brazen robbery that took place, and last year’s tournament saw a marked decrease in attendance, but still drew an impressive 773 entrants.

It will be interesting to see where the EPT ends up hosting the Season 8 Grand Final. Perhaps Paris or Cannes in France, or possibly one of the major Italian cities will be given the honor this year. For more information on the EPT you can visit www.eptpoker.com

2010 World Series of Poker Champion Jonathan Duhamel Victim of Home Invasion

2010 World Series of Poker Champion Jonathan Duhamel was the victim of a home invasion Wednesday morning in Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, according to CyberPresse.ca. Although police did not identify Duhamel as the victim, CyberPresse reports that Duhamel's agent confirmed the news.

According to CyberPresse, two men entered Duhamel's home shortly before 9:15 a.m., and attacked him.
Mark David, a police spokesman, said, "We are not talking about kidnapping, but of aggression. He was a victim of assault. He was wounded."

The Winnipeg Free Press reports that Duhamel was taken treated at a hospital and released.
Whether or not Duhamel was targeted because of his 2010 WSOP win is one of the questions investigators are attempting to answer as they reconstruct the crime scene. "We still have many questions. Why is it that the suspects chose that residence? What was the motive? Did they want this man? Did they want the property," David told CyberPresse.

No arrests have been made, and Duhamel has not spoken to the media so as not to taint the police investigation.

Nevada Gaming Board Chairman Says Online Poker Coming In 2012

The Nevada Gaming Commission will take an important vote for poker players in the state on Thursday. The Board will vote on a series of rules and regulations that have been crafted by the states Gaming Control Board. The rules could set the stage for regulated online poker by next year.

Chairman Mark Lipparelli predicted Wednesday that if the Gaming Commission approves of the rules, the online poker sites could be running before the end of next year. That would be a scenario that would be welcomed by thousands of gamblers in Nevada, and one that most likely would be duplicated in other states around the country.

"Online gambling is, and has been, coming to the US for years," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "It comes as no surprise to anyone that it is Nevada that is leading the way into the Internet gambling era in the US, as they have been the pioneers to so many gaming innovations over the years. Once Nevada regulates online poker, it will only be a matter of time before dozens of states follow suit."

Despite Las Vegas Sands' CEO Sheldon Adelson's contention that there are not enough technological safeguards in place to properly regulate online gambling, Lipparelli and the Gaming Board is moving forward with their proposal to add online poker to the long list of legal casino games available in the state. Lipparelli does admit that strong oversight is needed.

Nevada may have an uphill battle even if the Commission approves the rules later today. The federal laws in the US still make it illegal to process online gambling transactions. Federal lawmakers are battling to overturn the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and Nevada may have to wait until that is complete before they can open their online casinos.

In recent days, there have been reports of 888 Holdings, an International online gambling company, will apply for an online poker license in Nevada. The state is only offering the licenses to those companies already licensed in Nevada, so the foreign companies have started to partner with the Nevada-based gaming groups. It has been reported that 888 is entering into a partnership with Caesars Entertainment Corp.

Which do you prefer online or real table?

Many of us thinking that playing poker online will be the way to the real table tournament? I bet I'm the only one who is thinking of it because of the experiences that I got before the tournament in our country begins.

People who tends to start a tournament in one place, seems they are composed of professional poker players, it is very easy to say that playing on the real table is more reliable than online. But did you asked why how much reliable playing online poker? We'll that's the number one question you need to answer before you prefer to give comments on these kind of game.

You asked some questions to me if what I prefer, I prefer online, you what do you prefer???

Playing poker keeps you think very well

This article will gives you more an idea about playing poker is not just inside the casino hall, you can play this without stakes or just for fun in order to exercise you logical ideas in this type of card game. Playing Poker is another game that you can play to help you to increase your knowledge or your logical thinking. You don't need to place some stakes on the table if you intention is to enjoy the spirit of poker.

Playing cards on the table doesn't mean its a gambling

Poker is one of the game in the casino, you cannot play this with your friends if you just bring an ordinary card and a chips, one of the most important things that we do in order to make these very useful in playing poker is to collect all of the requirements in order to set up a table, cards and fake chips.

People still thinks that poker in the green table is a gambling, one thing the few people knew that when you play with stakes that's what we call now a gambling, but if you play a fake one without a stakes and tend only for fun obviously its not a gambling. The first question in the mind of everyone, why should I play poker? You can always do this without using stakes, just tell your friends that you are interested to play without the involvement of money, in this case, as we did this game, we practice our minds to increase our logical thinking on how will you be able to continue the game or to fold. More people also thinks that poker is good for your health, this statement sounds weird but if you take a look on it carefully, this is really true. When you are busy working in the whole day or do your daily routine, we want to get rid of stress and look for a relaxing type of game that we really want to be addicted, some of the people stay on the online media's like facebook, twitter or anything else that you find exactly to relieve your stress, do you think that reading online is too good to get away from stress? You need to think of this things because poker online helps you a lot and its really enjoy.

Software games also gives us more stressful ideas in terms of how to play the game, but in poker, if you really know how to play this game, you 'll be the champion on the next hand. This seems you'll be relieving your stress on playing poker, it's 100% surely that you will enjoy playing poker with virtual places. United Kingdom is one of the country where people always play poker, everyone of them still thinking it as a skill game, even in United States, people who plays on the poker rooms (software) are just playing for the free chips or the practice chips.

The best way to play on the poker rooms (software) is to choose the practice chips, you can see people there play only poker for the practice chips, this is the most effective way to get rid of expenses, you earn logical thinking less money to provide.

Tobey Maguire pays up $80,000 for Poker Lawsuit

It has been reported that former Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire has had to pay $80,000, after he is believed to have won over $311,000 during illegal poker games organised by convicted Ponzi former hedge fund operator Bradley Rudderman. The money is set to go to a bankruptcy trustee, who is trying to recoup the money that Bradley schemed from investors to live his sumptuous lifestyle.

The poker tournaments were organised at Rudderman’s house and are deemed to be illegal, although Maguire denies that he has done anything wrong. A spokesperson for the actor explained, “[Maguire] strongly disputes that he violated any laws, rules or regulations in regard to participating in the poker games.”

A number of other celebrities and businessmen have also been told that they have to pay back some of the money that they won at these illegal poker events. While some have agreed, many others are going to fight the case in court. Maybe these celebrities need to learn some Poker rules and start playing in some legal establishments

Full Tilt’s a big mess with all this Ponzi scheme issues. Hope they can settle all their legal affairs and work their way back up.

Review with the Ladbrokes Poker

Yesterday, we talked about the 888 Poker, but this time, we'll take a review with the Ladbrokes Poker, if you are not familiar with the Ladbrokes Poker, click this link to know more better into their software game.

You know, Ladbrokes is a gaming type which includes casino, poker, sports, bingo and anything else with betting, the only point here is that you enjoy everything what they have, like of course me, I always focusing on playing poker because that's one of my favorite card game that I want.

In the process of registration of the ladbrokes poker, is to sign up first, deposit, play and claim the chips that you won, we'll of course, this is cool ain't yah?

According to them too that "*If you are already Ladbrokes customer then login and create a poker alias
You have 45 days from the day you make your 1st deposit to play and earn your points. However, if you manage to hit the target earlier you can claim your bonus immediately by filling in the claim form below. Your bonus will be credited to your account within 3 working days."

That was really nice, the reason I'm sharing again the review is that the number of players here are too many. You can also enjoy playing the new players around the globe.
