Tobey Maguire pays up $80,000 for Poker Lawsuit

It has been reported that former Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire has had to pay $80,000, after he is believed to have won over $311,000 during illegal poker games organised by convicted Ponzi former hedge fund operator Bradley Rudderman. The money is set to go to a bankruptcy trustee, who is trying to recoup the money that Bradley schemed from investors to live his sumptuous lifestyle.

The poker tournaments were organised at Rudderman’s house and are deemed to be illegal, although Maguire denies that he has done anything wrong. A spokesperson for the actor explained, “[Maguire] strongly disputes that he violated any laws, rules or regulations in regard to participating in the poker games.”

A number of other celebrities and businessmen have also been told that they have to pay back some of the money that they won at these illegal poker events. While some have agreed, many others are going to fight the case in court. Maybe these celebrities need to learn some Poker rules and start playing in some legal establishments

Full Tilt’s a big mess with all this Ponzi scheme issues. Hope they can settle all their legal affairs and work their way back up.
